8 months! Gearing up for the arrival...

There’s so much to write this time, but I’ll try and keep it as short as possible and not lollygag too much.

Christmas:
All I could think about this Christmas is how different it’s going to be next year with having a little one around.  I can’t wait to dress Baby Wardette in fun little Christmas outfits.  I’m sure she’ll hate it, but me and the Grandparents will love it. J  She will definitely bring back the magic into Christmas for my family.  I can’t wait!!!!

My family gave me lots of baby books for Christmas to read before the little one arrives.  I hope I’ll be prepared!  I've started with the Baby Book and the book presents an interesting approach to bonding with your baby.  So far so good!
How I’m feeling:
This section will be short; no one likes a Debbi Downer. Ha ha!  Sleeping stinks, feet hurt, and I feel like a whale.

The nursery:
Jesse and I have made some huge progress on the nursery.  The painting is all done!  We painted the side walls “Tea Rose” which is like an antique looking pink, and painted an accent wall in “Karma” which is a cream.  It looks so soft and pretty.  Jesse and Keith (my great brother-in-law) have started the hardwood flooring into her room.  They’re about 30% done, but once they start again it will be smooth sailing since there’s not a lot of tough cuts left to do.  Hooray!  Thanks Jesse & Keith!

I’m almost finished making her quilt.  But after all the reading I’ve done she’s not even going to be able to use it for a while!  Ah well.  I’m going to get started on her curtains soon.  I’m just doing a short valence since curtains tend to hold a lot of dust.  Plus I don’t want her crawling to it and yanking them down.

I was trying to find some art to put on her walls when I came across some great art on www.etsy.com.  There is some amazing artwork from really talented artists on the site.  The prices are very reasonable.  I ordered three cute prints for her room:

This will go on her bedroom door.  This artist can do different colours and names.  And no... her name is not going to be Alyssa; this is just an example print.
It took me forever to select prints for her room because they’re all great.  But I loved falldowntree quirky bird prints.  They’re just so cute!

Lastly, Jesse and I took advantage of the Boxing Day sales and bought Baby Wardette’s crib.  The crib was 30% off!  We also bought the side rails for when we convert the crib into a toddler bed and then into a double bed.  We purchased everything for just under $400!  We went to Baby Cribs in Mississauga, Ontario.  I love a good deal. J

Getting family ready:
We have finally bought a new car!  I’ve actually been waiting 3 years to get a new car.  We waited this long since we have been able to get by borrowing Jesse’s brothers’ truck.  But now we need a car seat and it definitely won’t go in the back of the crappy Sunfire.  We went out thinking we’d get a 2006 Ford Escape or a Chevy Equinox, but we ended up with a 2007 Ford Freestyle.  What a total soccer mom car.  I love it!  Jesse and I are happy because it suits our new little family great.  There is lots of room for Baby Wardette and for Big Daddy’s hockey equipment; it’s a 7 seater!  Not to mention we got a great deal, Jesse was the negotiator for the purchase and he did amazing! J

If you made it to the end of this post… I thank you. J

29 Weeks... spinning around!

This past week has been a difficult one.  Two days in a row I had symptoms of shakiness, light-headedness, nausea, and confusion.  After visiting my OB/GYN I was told that I had hypoglycaemic attacks (i.e. low blood sugar attacks).  Not sure how this can happen when chocolate is my best friend!  Not to mention the Christmas Jujubes on my co-workers desk I’ve already had to replace... and will need to again.

Yesterday I ended up in the hospital.  I had the worst dizzy spell of my life.  Thankfully I have some great co-workers who took care of me and helped the dizziness go away.  But I was still frightened at what happened since it was pretty intense, and also worried about it happening to me when I drive.  I was told the same thing at the hospital that my OB/GYN said: my blood sugar plummeted but this time I had symptoms of vertigo.  Anyway, I’m good now but need to rest well all weekend.  So I’ve PVR’d a bunch of Christmas and W network movies and am parking my rump on the couch.

Jesse has decorated the house with our Christmas decorations to make sure we celebrate Christmas right, even though I can’t help and he’s super busy.  He bought a Christmas tree for us last night (unfortunately we didn't get the 10 foot Gris-Ward Christmas tree this time) and put up our Christmas lights on the house before I woke up this morning.  He definitely knows how to cheer me up. J

Jesse’s mom, Cindy, came by today to keep me company while I rested.  She brought this wonderful gift with her that was from Jesse’s Aunt Kim.  It was a pair of handmade moccasins that were created by a native friend of theirs.  They are the cutest little moccasins I’ve ever seen and will get as much wear possible by Baby Wardette!  Thank you Aunt Kim!

7 months!

Time, simply put, is flying by.  I cannot believe I’m already 7 months pregnant – into my third trimester.  I think because Christmas is coming, there are renovations going on, and we still need to work on the nursery makes the time move quickly.  I’ve created a new page to keep you posted on the nursery progress.

I think that the feeling great through my 1st and 2nd trimesters were a blessing.  The 3rd trimester is not looking so great.  Here it comes, I’m going to complain.  Ha!  I’m starting to feel super tired again at night, I’m getting dizzy now and then, back and foot pains if I do some physical work for more than 5 minutes, and now I’m feeling nausea again.  I guess at some point I was going to feel the crappy symptoms.  Other than that, life is good.  I think having great friends, family and husband can make life much easier.

I’ve finally completed my glucose testing.  The drink wasn’t bad!  It was like orange drink from McDonalds.  Baby Wardette kicked like crazy with the sugar injection.  I have my routine OB/GYN appointment this Tuesday, and other than that nothing else to report.  I’m just trying to keep up with all the craziness of Christmas, keeping the house semi-clean, and helping where I can with the renos.

Just wanted to congratulate Adrian on her new baby boy Jack!
